Fred Defense?

I like this opening for Black because Black can regain back the pawn. (White doesn't want to protect the pawn with the g-pawn)

...why play a unknowned defence?

choose:the king's indian,sicilian....just to name a couple.

I think it's a very risky "defence". What about this line: 1 e4 f5 2. exf5 Nf6. 3. d4 d6 4. Bd3. White f5 pawn is now rock solid, Black is a pawn down with worse development (just look at the f8 bishop). White's pieces come up very easily, White can castle, I would definitely prefer this position as White.

In your 2...Nf6 diagram:

White can just maintain the pawn on f5 with Bd3 instead of Nf3, which is also an excellent developing move, and the f5 pawn cramps black's development a bit.

It's not easy at all for black to get this pawn back at all (Actually may not be possible.any move of the e or g pawn will cause an exchange which would leave white a pawn up. Also, black has worse king safety, and he doesn't even have better development.

The short answer is: just say NO (to the fred) :)

Yeah

fred defence is a king's gambit for black....

Not really. It's not even the same structure reversed, because black's e pawn hasn't moved. If there is such a thing as the king's gambit for black is called the Latvian Gambit (1.e4 e5 (same pawn structure - minimum for you to be able to call it the same opening - but not e nough) 2.Nf3 f5!?!? (some would say ?!))

actually the latvian has much more in common with the king's gambit.
