The expression "1 + 1" is a digit representing the value "one" followed by an addition symbol, commonly referred to as "plus", followed by another digit representing the value "one."

It is the sum of 1 and 1.

Second answer: True

1+1 could also be a string made up of the characters '1', '+', and '1', no?

0b00110001 0b00101011 0b00110001 in ASCII, I believe. Perhaps we would also need to include the null character to terminate the string, but I am not sure if he is asking for this.

If we evaluated it and got the character 2, it would then be 0b00110010, while if we evaluated it to the integer 2 it would be represented as 0b00000010.

If that was the answer, wouldn't it have been worded "What is 1+1. ?" Without the period, it is a question and not a statement of fact.

There is no answer because it was not a question.

Well played, Twinchicky.  I would bet that's right.

1+1=0

x = y

Then x2 = xy

Subtract the same thing from both sides:
x2 - y2 = xy - y2

Dividing by (x-y), obtain x + y = y

Since x = y, we see that  2 y = y

Thus 2 = 1, since we started with y nonzero

Subtracting 1 from both sides,
1 = 0

That means nothing to me.

My eyes glazed over on the second line
