Sorry, Blaster, but...
And Black is actually better.
what happens if queen takes knight instead of bishop?

The castling move is terrible for white. White still has a dominating position after Na3, which then in turn allows for the d pawn to move and attack the queen

Disgruntled_Sheep, have you forgotten about the white bishop on d5? After your variation 10...Qxg2, the queen is lost !

Castling was best. With Na3 you get:
Why 5 ... Nxd5? I was under the impression that 5 ... Na5 was better for Black:
Italian Game: Two Knights Defense, Polerio Defense ?
I only know that because I looked it up in Game Explorer where it shows 5...Na5 to be approximately equal but 5...Nxd5 substantially winning for White ! (For whatever that's worth)
Nxd5 isn't a bad move, it is just less sound than the alternatives Na5 and b5, although Nd4 is also a move (but transposes to b5).
After d4!, Nxd4 c3 b5! is OK for Black.
The FLA is refuted for White, as computers have shown that Black can survive the onslaught and win due to his extra knight.
Okay a few thoughts here.
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 b5 (although 5...Nd4 can transpose back into the same line, theory has found that 5...b5 is the more accurate move order) 6.Bf1 Nd4 7.c3 Nxd5 8.cxd4 has been shown to lead to a clear advantage for white.
It hasn't been proved that black has refuted the Fried Liver Attack yet (certainly some lines are refuted, but with best play it has been shown that white gets 3 pawns for the piece with initiative). So in other words, it is balanced, but not necessarily an equal game. But the point is moot when there is a better alternative in the Lolli Attack (6.d4! instead of 6.Nxf7).
OK, so Fritz variation is refuted, but actually, the FLA should be refuted. I mean the computer even says so when you explore the lines more, and this being a tactical game, I would trust the computer.
Of course the lolli is best, but it isn't a "refute" of Nxd5 if thats what you are trying to say.
I am not trying to say that Na5 is worse, it is a good move, but Nxd5 is a good alterantive as well, although it may not give Black the exciting game he is looking for.
Works on the queen side as well. Called Queens pawn attack; mason line, after 2. Bf4
It is a solid open for a round about way of gaining center control and if countered with two knights defense you can usually get black into some trouble.
