oh and Noah, one should only have one opening that you always stick with (at least for white) because if you have multiple that you like to play there will always be confusion as opposed to rountine-ity (if that is a word) in your opening.....just a thought
Hello,
I was wondering if you could recommend to me a good arsenal of openings to have for both black and white, say 3 each. I am looking for some openings that are not widely used. Here are the ones I know so far:
White:
1) Max Lange Gambit
2) King's Gambit
3) The Queen's Gambit (occasionally)
4) Improvisation XD
Black:
1) Scandinavian Defense
2) Pirc Defense
3) King's Indian Defense
4) Sicilian (rarely)
Please recommend three for each side that I do not have listed:
White:
1)
2)
3)
Black
1)
2)
3)
P.S. I am not totally positional, I would say I am a player who is trying to checkmate the other guy during the opening. I like a fast, quickly developed game that will put me in a place to attack his king before he castles. If I miss this opportunity, I immediately start putting pieces into positions where they can get the King and checkmate. So, I am basically a King focused player, who tries to cut off the head before the body has a chance to move. I also like making my King nice and cozy by castling and using openings such as the King's Indian Defense and Pirc defense. You probably need that information to help me choose some openings.
