A while back i played a game and tried the Halloween Gambit. I might have messed it up early but I ran into this

How would I escape that hole that I fell into and what should've I done? Thanks

I think after 7.Bg5 black is in big trouble, because 8.Nd5 is coming .

For example: 7.Bg5 h6?! 8.Nd5 Qd8 (Qd7 loses to Nxc7+) 9.Nxf6+ gxf6 10.Bxf6 forks the queen and rook 10..Be7 11.Bxh8 and white is probably winning with material, development AND space advantage.

Just play Be2, but even before that you should have played 6.d5
