and i built a rating of over 2200 based purely on this opening -.- it isn't as easy to refute for black as it seems.

In the current Halloween gambit there are still 4 players who have won all their games (Plus Molaboy who is also no defeats, no draws, but who hasn't finished a game yet), and White is scoring only slightly less than 50%.

FessMate, if your so bloody interested to see me post my game, mabye you should have the headache to go through my archive, it's there for all to see, & I get no fun playing computers, I only use the mothers to study, & don't forget, I'm a non user, ie.. I'm not going to pretend that I know much about the gambit but FessMate, Gonnosuke is one of the best players on this site and I'm sure he's put a lot of time into studying it and if you look at his games in practical play he doesn't do that badly with it!

2. after u lose game u should test your moves and find blunders u made and find better moves for the future
3. he asked about halloween gambit i answered that after 5...Ng6 white have nothing... this opening can work in blitz games only....

5.Ng6 doesn't refute this gambit. What it does is allows black to re route his knight to to the h6 square at some stage to offer further protection for the f7 pawn, while maintaing an active knight on the board. Because 6.e5 Ng8, and black has servier development issues. Personally after Ng6 i still give white a slight edge. But black defintely has more time to save his king with Ng6 then what he does with Nb6 and other various replies. Unless of course you just give back the piece. :)

It might interest the Halloween doubters to know how the opening is played in OTB chess. The leading exponents of the system are a German IM named Wind (I can find his analysis of the opening by the bucketfull, but few of his games) and Grigor Minchev, rated about 2300.
Here's one of my favourite games of his.
It actually seems as a highly unlickley situation in a game mate.

It was pretty darn impressive..
I don't like this gambit very much. The results for White are not attacks but merely a large centre that could easily become overextended and weak. The centre should be more flexible, in my opinion, and not pushed forward so far. Indeed, with the proper defence I'm almost sure Black is winning this game.
