I usually use this opening but it has no official name. a4, h4, d4, e4, Nc3, Nf3, b3, g3, Ba3, Bh3, of course, I change it from time to time because most of the times people take the center before me. Is it a good opening though???
GnomoDiFerro

I called it like this because the pieces kinda resemble how the Norman soldiers' formation looked like in the Battle of Hastings

GnomoDiFerro

I use it only for rapid btw

The opening is named the Crab Opening and I wrote a forum thread about it.

However, you’re playing inaccurate moves.

The above is more or less what will happen in games and is named Crab Opening in the Old ECO Books.

After the above moves, I tell people to fianchetto both Bishops.

We reach the above position which I call the starting position.

White has different ideas they can do based on what Middle Game plan they want to do.

Oh. Thank you for the information.

Here is the Forum Thread Post I made about it

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/for-beginners/crab-opening-for-beginners

- I showed games I played as sample games

- I talked about the Crab Opening ideas

- I talked about the Crab middle game plans

Yeah, it’s fun beginner friendly line which is lightly unusual vs. what most players do.

Yeah I'm kinda new so I love this opening
