In the opening 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3.d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Nc3 Bg7 6.Be3 Nf6 7.Qd2 I want to avoid the Yugoslav Attack. The book "Chess Openings for Black, Explained" shows me how to respond to other moves. I am currently 1750 and have trouble recently with this variation. I played Ng4 in 2 games and lost to both 1600s. Help?
Help with Sicillian Defense

After Bb3 the book recommends a5, thx for comment
I was thinking if Ng4 was so bad that it would quickly lose to 1600 twice, so simply middlegame error must be at fault

Nxc6 dxc6 is only good if you want a draw, I like to play for a win just like many other Sicilian players

I think that Uogele's 8.Bb3 a5 is deservedly out of fashion, since Black has several more promising alternatives- namely 8...d6 (improved version of the Yugoslav attack), 9...a6, 9...d5!? and finally 9...Re8, the last one being the most solid option.
