They play on the kingside, you can play in the center and on the queenside.
The f4-f5 move is nothing special, a easy way to get out of trouble would be long castling, you could leave your king at e8 for a while too. If you castle to early it's easy to aim at your king. (Leaving the king in the center is not so dangerous in a closed position)
I play the french alot against e4 and lately i've been getting e5 e6 f4 and they like to push the f4 pawn to f5 and attack my kingside what should I do when they play that?
