As mentioned in another thread, avoid the Fried Liver by playing 5...Na5 instead of 5...Nxe5??

The Traxler, avoiding it via 4...Bc5, is highly unsound!

That said, I avoid it completely!  I avoid the Italian Game!  Easy solution.  On move 1, I move the same pawn that you move, but only half as far!

When I occasionally have fun with the nimzowitch defense, I sometimes transpose into open games, and when I played two knights I actually play the ...b5 line, not because of any concrete line but because it just looks really funny.

I don’t know. It tastes horrible. Personally I would chose something sweet. Or dairy. This is an important question. How do you do deal with that horrible taste of friend liver.

#8 @QRPD very nice. I think I would play 6. d5xNc6 b5xBc4 7. Qe2

It's speculative, but white has an edge if played right. Black can get a real kick if white takes the bait. However, some people don't like their king getting kicked around, so I understand why it's not the most desirable line for white.

"If white takes the bait".

That's the biggest piece of bulls**t I have ever heard!  Soundness is not based on someone falling for cheap shots.

"OH, well, the Milner-Barry Gambit is so great if Black takes the bait on d4 without developing his Bishop first".

Problem is, any pea brain knows not to fall for cheap shots.  Once Black avoids it, the Milner-Barry is dubious AT BEST!

And ya know what?  Traxler is right there with it!

Don't spew this "if white takes the bait" crap and think you have validated something that is total garbage!

ASSUME YOUR OPPONENT PLAYS THE BEST MOVES!  Are you still happy with your position?

Any fool that bases their choice of openings on the basis of trying to trick the opponent and not base it on positions they understand themselves AGAINST BEST PLAY (meaning ALL one trick ponies fail) are clueless on how to play this game and will be chess failures for life!
