Just play the main line. It's good for beginners who encounter the Caro-Kann defence in their games.

You are a new player- so: 3.exd5 cxd5 4.Bd3 is the exchange variation which can be played without a a lot of study. You are playing a Queen's Gambit exchange with reversed colors, and a full tempo handy. Such positions are more about positional understanding, and less about concrete variations.

Personally, I have played just about everything against the Caro- Panov Attack, 3.e5, Open Caro, Acceerated Panno (2.c4), 2.Nf3 d5 3.d3, you-name-it, but I still play the exchange when I'm not in the mood of a theoretical discussion.
