Don’t memorize until around at least 1700 OTB/2000 online. Understand the ideas of the openings. If you are already there chessbook.com is good.

there comes a point where you have looked at the specific opening/variation so much that you just know it

Memorizing Openings is useless. You need to UNDERSTAND openings. What do you do when your opponent deviates? If you understand the opening you play, you take advantage of his mistake. If you memorize, you are now just as lost as he is, if not in even worse condition because he has a bad idea in mind while you have no idea what to do!
can someone tell me how to easily memorise openings as I'm not really good at it . As usually after 4 to 7 moves I usually don't know what the moves that come after of the opening.
