How to play against Budapest Gambit

This proves how aggressive the intent of Budapest players have.....

GM Miguel Illescas offers an original "recipe":

Then he considers black's possible replies: 5. ...Bb4+,  5. ...g6, 5. ...Ng6!?, 5. ...Nbc6, 5. ...Bc5 and 5. ...d5!?

ilusmte

Really?

Pulpofeira

It looks a bit too advanced to me, though. I could translate the whole article if you are interested, maybe I could find the time along this weekend.

ilusmte

Yeah certainly I'm interested...

Pulpofeira

Black gives check:  5. ...Bb4+

The most natural and frequent move. Black forces the trade of a piece, also the black bishop would be passive after the necessary d7-d6, enough reason to trade it before. But, trading his c1 bishop, white solves his own problem of the development of this piece (due to e2-e3) and gets a good placement for his queen on d2.

ilusmte

wow... indeed a very helpful analysis.

Pulpofeira

Black fianchettoes:  5. ...g6

Pulpofeira

5. ...Ng6!?   Black's idea is clear: control of the f4 square, to keep the white knight out of play on h3. A possible trade of knights leads more or less to equality.

Exactly...just check his 'miracle' turnaounds closely where they change over. The computer has nothing to do with any of that garbage that is forced on the computer to play. The only one Ive looked at personally, in the secret chess thread, a move was supposedly played by SF that wasnt even in the top 7 at the depth indicated. It swung the eval from black +1 to black +.1

I dont know what it is these days...in the Leela thread of Leela vs SF, after 1 h4, SF9 supposedly goes for Scholars Mate? lol.

Repost the position with analysis from SF.

If you don't, you are simply throwing mud.

Throwing mud is easy, analysis is DIFFICULT.

Before reaching my level, I have analysed 100 000 such positions, you have analysed 100.

Would not help you OTB Mr Fraud.

If you call me one more time like that, I will report you.

Is not Kazakhstan still a totalitarian state?

You are following pretty much Mr. Putin's methods, right?

You would poison, you would kill and do everything else to get what you want, regardless of justice.

Don't make yourself more a laughing stock for the whole Chess.com community.

Have you posted a single chess diagram since you appeared?

As single chess argument?

Pulpofeira

5. ...Nbc6.  Postponing the decision about how to develop the kingside.

Pulpofeira

5. ...Bc5.  Black should avoid a development without a plan or piece trading:

5. ...d5!?

Repost the position on a par with SF analysis input, otherwise you are just talking trash.

How to go from black +.5 SF9 to white advantage by messing with SF output.

Heres 12...f5 from chess.com SF8...which strangely favors black.

Compare to Nc5 at depth 18....which do you think SF thought was better for black? And yet it went with Nc5? Maybe you are now interested in buying a bridge?

But of course, the real SF knew Nc5 Qc2 was a total joke for black....shortly after.. here is a picture of depth 25.

Chess.com computer is very weak, why are you using it at all?

Try the same position on 16 or 64 core.

As you see even from my output, at that point SF 9 STILL favours black, so nothing surprising about that.

The posiiton is complicated, SF does not have perfect evaluation for it, and that is why it sees white in advantage just much LATER.

Gameplay is much more important than static search, everyone knows that.

I have played a game, you have just searched with a very weak engine.

I explained this to you multiple times, but all you know is let SF run and post screenshots.

People need to think from time to time too.

Thanks... thanks a lot

Have to go, but stay tuned, game 2 is savage!

Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

All those lines that Pulpofeira posted don't give any real advantage to white.

SF around the 0.0 margin all the time after 4. e3 and Nh3.

Of course, the Budapest could be promising, if white plays weak.
