How to play the QGA?

QGA or QGD is matter of personal taste. ..I would like to play KID.

Petrosian bragged about feeding his family off people who misplay the KID, and his competition consisted of GMs.  The KID is a great opening but it's something that's very theory intensive and requires non-intuitive moves in many places. Some of the more famous KID strategies involve moving kingside pawns against the king with a knight going to e8 or h7 to make way for a central f5 strike, but these require precise calculation and correct timing.

If one plays the queen's gambit as white then the QGA should be the first thing they study.  It's silly playing a gambit and not knowing what to do if they actually accept.

i would much prefer 3. ...e5. I tihnk its objectively better. I tihnk white has more of an advantage by forcing the line with 3 Nf3

That was the idea 3-4 years ago but currently the Bg4 line is giving white some difficulties after Nf3 while at the same time the e5 line got some new impluses giving white more chances to play for and edge. In the end both systems are probably about equal but it depends what you rather play and i do not mind playing with in IQP

@TheGreatOogieBoogie...

I agree to ur point. But if you really see sub 1700-1800 players aren't booked up well on opening either.

If you have playable position with sound tactical knowledge thats enough to win the game.

Because there are lot of opportunity for both sides.

@Fiveofswords: Like i said before it is all a matter of opinion. e5 is a possibility but it certainly does not equalize as easy as you think else GM's like Carlsen, Aronian, Ivanchuck, Jakovenko and others would not play it.

Both e3 and nf3 are perfectly viable alternatives and what you like is a matter of opinion not a matter of better or worse. The only difference is the e5 line vs the Bg4 line

Check the games of Arthur Kogan he plays the system rather well.

But it certainly is not a refutation or something of the Nf3 line. It is just a system i have trouble playing against. I have much less trouble in the e5 lines.

Hmm. The QGA is viable, to me, if a draw is all you want to strive for. White can get trapped trying to overextend. The QGD Lasker's Defense is an analogous example.

I just like the Two Knights variation because my pieces are more active and engaged.

As far as any pinning is involved (say, ...Bg4) I don't it at all. Having two bishops is generally great vs the QGA. But then, to each their own. Some players feel better having their d4 pawn secured (although having it become isolated anyway kind of defeats the purpose of playing e3...but that's just me)
