How would you deal with this position?
8...e5 seems a collosal mistake. After 9.Ndb5 Bf8 10,g4 White has tempi up on his normal K-side attack. The cost is that his Nd4 will soon be slightly misplaced on a3.
White could also just win that pawn with 10. 0-0-0 +/=.
In general, in Dragon Sicilian black has to be extremely carefull about moving the e-pawn to e6 as d6 can then be very weak. And moving that pawn to e5 is usually even worse as it also blocks the diagonal of the dragon bishop.

(I really do think it will only be slightly misplaced.) Also, Black will have voluntarily blocked off the diagonal that justified g6 and Bg7 in the first place.
I don't think White is winning just yet, but Black has clearly mixed up his systems.
hmm yes I agree. the reason I asked this hypothetical question is because despite Bf8 (what you would expect) black actually has the surprising move king e7, allowing ne8. Still the position is pretty bad for black and on further analysis white inevitably has a strong attack, viz 9Nbd5... Kd7 10 O-O-O Ne8 11 Nd5+ Kf8 (everything seems safe now, though the rook is hemmed in) 12 h4 a6 13 Nbc3 and then the strong looking Nd4 is actually seems quite superficial.
Positions with 9 Nxc6 also look much better for white but I am now inclined to believe this is by far superior.
