Against e4, d4, c4, Nf3 ....?  Any main line opening is good.  You need to sharpen the question up.

Try e6 followed by d5

boymaster

sicilian= sharp play

carokann=drawish

french=defensive

KID=Attacking

what do you pick?

trigs

against 1. e4 play the modern sicilian (1...c5 2 Nf3 d6)

against 1. d4 play the benoni (1...Nf6 2. c4 c5)

I would call the Sicilian attacking (immediately stakes a claim on the opposite side of the board, though it is indeed often sharp, as well)...

The Caro-Kann defensive (black is solid, but doesn't get a particularly high number of draws at any level)...

And both the French and the KID counter-attacking (both start by giving up space, then aim to exploit the holes in the attacker's position).

Not to pick nits, but if the guy is hoping to pick his defense based on the info in the thread, he ought to have a correct picture.

Try the Alekhine Defense, It's always treated me well and easy to learn

THe sicilian is not necessarly sharp: the kan is an example.

as for the OP question he has to be more precise.

sicikian is sharp game. if you miss your moves, the opponent can get you quickly.

e4 d5 seems to sharp. But it is much solid game with active black's queen

There is always the good old fashioned knight defense! Laughing

The Caro Kann is not neccesarily "boring", look at the Panov-Botvinnik!

I recommend the sicilian defense. I can not tell you how much I enjoy playing it. Here's an awesome introduction to the sicilian. You may find a variation that you want to play:

i like this and the answers, and I like playing black.  thank you :)

If you want to get tactical in the caro kann try the Bronstein Larsen variation!!!
