I'm wondering how black obtains a better position from his pawn sacrifice? Is this a good opening for black?

It is easier to figure out what you are talking about if you include a diagram.

The usual move is 3. e4, not taking the pawn. The game explorer had only 1 game where the pawn was taken:

Look at the diagramme of notmtwain, what do you do after Nf3 or Bf4 ? What is your plan ? it looks white is gonna take a good center control and a gambit is supposed to gives you the initiative but not a better game. I don't play it so I cannot give ''the plan'' But be sure that you can hold the game in those kind of positions.

notmtwain tells 3.e4 is the usual move, lol...

3.e4 exd4 4.Qxd4 tranposes to centre game opening, not really the crucial test for this gambit...

Seems a very bad gambit, or at least a bad version of Budapest gambit.

If u compare with it, Nc3 has been played instead of c4, no doubt this helps only white...

Oh I miss a post, but 3. e3 isn't the best move when you can have free tempo to creat a better center control. Thx poucin for diagram and the deeper analyse. Does Someone know how to post diagrams with phones ?

This is a terrible opening for black, but I just won this game with it so... I thought I was in familiar Budapest territory. I got lucky! https://lichess.org/pFfXDPec/black#16
