Bb7 is the third most common line behind Chigorin and Breyer
Actually, it is not the 3rd most common line in the Ruy any more. Those 3 9th move responses have probably fallen now to 3rd thru 5th on the depth chart.
The Marshall Gambit, and Anti-Marshall, is pretty much the most common line now after 3...a6.
That said, 3...a6 is no longer the most popular move. In the last 20 years, it has been surpassed by 3...Nf6 (Berlin).
J has several smh
Jobava London system (1. d4 Nf6 2. Nc3 d5 3. Bf4)
Janisch Gambit (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 f5)
Deferred Janisch Gambit (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 f5)
Jerome gambit (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. Bxf7+)
Janowski Variation (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 d6 3. Nc3 Bf5)
Actually, it's simply the Jobava Attack, or Jobava-Prie Attack. There is no such thing as the "Jobava London", about as stupid as saying the "Sicilian, French Variation".
I've always referred to the Janisch as the Schliemann, hence why that one never dawned to me.
I don't play junk, and hence why I never came up with the Jerome Gambit.
The fact that you think "London" is part of the Jobava-Prie Attack gets a big fat SMH!
It's o-o-o and then like g4, h4, bh6 etc.
wait what, it's 9.Bc4
