Is Albin Countergambit is good opening against the Queen's Gambit

White does not have to accept the gambit. With 2.c4,... Black has to make choices that are not the Albin gambit.

It's OK, there are lots of good lines against it for White though. I'd say it's a second- or third-tier response to the Queen's Gambit.

Never mind I was thinking Englund gambit
That makes less sense about the Englund, White only has to know ~10 or so moves to get an amazing position against that after accepting it, at least against the 3...Qe7 line.

slav is boring
thats because you play the exchange agianst it
or even worse.... you play b3-e3 systems agianst it

It’s alright, it’s quite interesting. I would probably use it as a surprise weapon for OTB and stuff or it can also be good for blitz games

Scottcookson, yes you are correct. My thinking is that black wants to play the Englund gambit but white doesn't have to. By white playing 2.c4,... black has already played e5. His options are 1) he pushes e4 which may force Nf6 2) he exchanges and plays exd4 or 3) he defends with d6 which will probably transpose into some type of KID game. Regardless of Black's choice, he is no longer in the comfort of his opening repertoire.

If White doesn't take the pawn or play e4 (going into an OK line of 1.e4 e5), then Black is fine, though. You have plenty of space, and after 1.d4 e5 2.c4 exd4 White has to allow 3.Nf3 Bb4+ or 3.Qxd4 Nc6. All of this is moot because 1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 is so much better for White, though.
Edit: You're right that Black doesn't get an Englund position, but let's face it, how familiar will White be with that kind of position? If anything you get a "real" game of chess where both sides have to evaluate and understand the position, and that's a good thing (and you should definitely be happier there than in the 3...Qe7 main line!). But the Englund isn't the right way to get that kind of position, unless you like being way worse when White goes down the main line.

Do you want to know why the slav is so ¨boring¨ to those who play it as black?
it is because you treat the (semi) slav like a system opening and never try to challenge white by taking on c4 and playing b5-c5. the semi slav is one of the most sharpest openings in all of chess and you play it like a system as black. i dont understand how you could put 0 study into the (semi) slav and just play it like a boring system opening. you literally have access to fireworks but choose to use pop rocks
now one thing. white alot of the times will choose to play the exchange slav or play it like a system opening as well. which is why you probally think is boring and annoying. which i agree with and is why i quit the slav
