I've watched some videos on his channel.
I thought they were very instructive and very entertaining.
I think I laughed out loud many times from one (or more) of his videos, I loved his sense of humor.
" Does he just have a poor sense of humor or is this his personality?" Uh I think you have a poor sense of humour. Or at least you don't appreciate him. The guy is a comedy chess lecture genius. Seriously. Many people consider him absolutely unrivalled in the chess video world. Check out the adoration on his youtube vids. I have the feeling he's a sweet, intelligent, caring guy. Smart people usually have a playful, creative sense of humour. Oh anyway, either you get it or you don't. "He tries too hard to be funny".. That person also doesn't get him. hehe That's like.. I don't know, telling Kasparov he plays too aggressively, Capablanca that he simplifies too much - that's his style, like breathing air. Anyway, it works for me. I value his videos over everyone else's put together.

For such a jerk and horrible person, he sure is requested much on other lecturers' videos.
People are just over-sensitive these days.
Ben Finegold is a great teacher.
Ben Finegold is just a lot of fun, he is a great teacher, and his style coupled with humor makes his tips stuck with you making you remember more, don't take nothing he says personally he is just joking, and never has a bad intention. I love his videos, you should too.

Well he's in the egotistical and nerdy/socially awkward camp for sure. However I don't sense bad intent in this video. He's being something of a character and his audience understands that and gets his humor, imo
