You still blunder like crazy, you hardly understand even the basics yet your problem is what opening to play and if Berlin is a theoretical draw.Indeed amateurs and beginners become more and more ridiculous.
This thread we can at least agree on.

With the rising popularity of the Berlin Defense, I’ve decided to prepare 1. e4 e5 as black for use against higher rated players. It seems to me like theoretically, the Ruy Lopez can be met with the Berlin, the Italian Game can reach positions like the Giuoco Pianissimo (literally translates to “very quiet game”). It seems to me that black can get relatively easy (although theoretically complex) draws out of all the main variations of e4 e5, other than the Vienna (which I don’t know anything about) and the King’s Gambit (which is rarely played at the top level). Since black gets draws so easily, why is e4 still playable?
Doesn’t take much to get a draw against e4?
If your level of play made that slightly true you’d have been playing Carlsen instead of Caruana.
What complete tosh.
I didn’t mention “at my level”. I asked about opening theory, hence I put this in the “Openings” category and not the “pick on lower rated players because you’re an asshole” category.
Well, at top level it does take even much more!
@GMPatzer Well I’m aware, and I know they still get wins, but in theory could I not get a draw every time if I improved a lot and memorized a lot of lines?
How many "lines" do you think you would have to memorise? Serious question.
I mean, I haven’t counted, but not that many. I spent a few hours looking through databases and deciding what lines to prepare for. I haven’t memorized all of it, but the only lines I didn’t include were outlandish, bad, or lines that made concessions to avoid the draw. It’s certainly unmanageable for an amateur, but were I a GM it would absolutely readable to get a draw out of every game beginning in e4 e5 Nf3.
Well, that is where you are wrong realy. Many GM can not do that. Those are not easy draws, you couldnt get a draw out of every game. This time here is some FACT from the chess.com official database. I would like to remind you, there are other databases out there and it's only include the"Masters Games", and not all games.
1:e4-e5
2:Nf3
There are 186 571 games from that position.
37% white winning
26% black winning
37% drawn.
Basicly 63 games from 100 is NOT a drawn.
And It's grandmasters level....
We can argue about that, other system may have less drawn % statisticly, but saying we can memorize the drawn lines in the e4 system easily.... well, it's just not true...
Personally (ye I know, Im not a GM) got a very few draw in the e4 system. If one of the players playing for win, and keep pushing, there won't be an easy draw.
Alright, I appreciate the effort and the statistics, but I’m still not convinced. Thank you anyway.
Dude, you're 1300. If GM games statistics don't convince you, then nothing will convince you.
I agree I’m thirteen hundred and if you play e4 I will get a draw against you. If it isn’t a draw, it’s due a blunder.
Yes, and that is the point. Blunder. Just because there is a drawish position, you can't be sure it's gonna be a draw. This year Tatasteel, Shankland gave up a thereotically draw endgame against Giri, because he didn't know it's a draw. There were only 7 pieces alltogether on the board, and Shankland a very strong GM...

You have 47 games from that position, and 94% was NOT a drawn...
