NextKasparov, as you probably know, even teachers disagree on best practices.

I agree with the idea that you should focus on longer time controls. But blitz and even bullet chess really do have their place in learning how to play. In order to play well, you must play a critical number of games. I have no clue what that number is, but I do know that people who grow up playing blitz and bullet tend to have a better "natural" feel for where the pieces belong.

If you only have 30 minutes a day to play, spend some days playing only blitz and some days working on a single position for that 30 minutes. There are excellent training books available to give you good exercises.

If you find yourself playing too quickly, then stop playing blitz until you get in the habit of thinking. But every world champion except Botvinnik excelled at blitz. Every top player in the world today plays blitz. Blitz is not your enemy. Lazy thinking is your enemy.

You dont have to play the longer times to get better. Other ways work but it still works

1 hour of study is not better then 12 hours of playing. i have studed for more then an hour of all the times ive studed. If i played 12 hours my rating would go up by at least 100 or 200. if i studed for an hour then i would not go to much more further
