I don't think black should play 5...Nxd4 because it just helps white's development advantage.

Bc5 for example should be better.

I know you just picked that move out as an example, but I believe it's actually bad for Black:

The reason I know this is that I had that exact opportunity as White in one of my games recently, but I missed it and only found it when I analyzed the game afterwards.  I won't miss it again though!  :-D

  • I really think black is lost in all lines against best play by white after 3 ... h6. 4 d4 is the most principled move. No particular point in 4 castles so far as I can see, except maybe to tempt black into a weak move. Maybe d6 would be weak, not sure.

  • I agree with the first part of your post, that d4 is the best move, but your "except maybe to tempt black into a weak move. Maybe d6 would be weak, not sure."

Passoro82:  the word is "explanation," as I told you in my first post.  I was willing to overlook what could have been a typographical error, but now I have to conclude you are too thick to understand your native language, English, or ever have a chance at learning a game which requires average intelligence at least.

3. ... Nf6. Just like Fixing_A_Hole, I salivate when I see 4. Ng5.

lol I salivate when I see 3...Nf6 I make sure black sided players know there Fried liver/Lolli attack theory Ha Ha

Meh, playing 5...Nxd5 is garbage.

5. ... b5 is more fun!

6.Bf1 is the best move. Gives white a moderate advantage in all lines.

True. Factly, this "moderate advantage" translates with best play to a pawn up endgame, where Black may hold, but his task is rather unpleasant.

Just like any other gambit - a pawn for piece activity.

Anyway I think I would go 4 d4 and 5 c3. Try to get into a book line where h6 loses.

Hahahaha.

There is no such line.

Hahahaha, you are wrong- again, which is hardly surprising.

I have 161 more games on the line, if this is not enough for you.

Wow, cool game by a young Svidler.

Nice game, Swindler!...kind of a little Morra Gambit there in the opening, huh?  Anyway, my amateurish point of view is, a good line is fine, but a strong will, Will Kill.  That is the reason it doesn't really matter if Big Blue beats Gary...Chess is much more like boxing than entering the Matrix.  What matters, on any given day, is highly personal.  Stand and deliver.  What have you brought with you to battle.  We have all drawn lost games because of tenacity and perseverance.  The really important matter is not just having a plan, but persuading your opponent to follow it!
