Giuoco Pianissimo:
Note: 4... Be7 is a little more popular than 4... Bc5.
Berlin Defense (with 4. d3):
Note the placement of White's light-squared bishop. In Giuoco Pianissimo it is on c4 and in the Berlin Defense it is on b5. I'm not sure how significant that difference is.
I was wondering whether the Italian with black playing 3...Bc5 often transposes with the Berlin variation where white plays 4.d3.
Or are there other variations where white searches for an advantage in the one line and in the other?
They look quite similar and also very quiet positions where tempos don't matter as much
