After the king's gambit, (e4 e5 f4) I have been told that the best and most agressive way of playing is d5. Is this true, if so why???

Avatar of CoachConradAllison

OK What would you consider to be the best response to e4, e5, and f4?????????

Is there not huge risk in exf4, does'nt whit build up a huge attack???????

It's not without risk, but objectively it's the best. So if you are sure of yourself, that's the way to play it.

Hmmm. The best way to play against the King's Gambit is to accept it with 2... exf4. However, 2... d5 is certainly playable- just not optimum.

Gonnosuke- what if black doesn't play 3... e4?! After exf4 black at least has equality, at least in my opinion.

Avatar of Nytik

Ah, that may be the case. I was talking about the move 3... exf4. So perhaps you are correct, I am lacking in knowledge of the modern defence.

I think exf4 is the best way to respond and keep your position strong.  it is too hard to hold the e5 square

oooh, richie_and_ophrah - great game. Go the Big Boris. The commentary, where a couple of guys run the game through several programs, is interesting too. Thanks for the postCool
