I've been trying to reduce the uncertainty I normally feel when faced with the multitude of possible opening moves by starting to read up, rightly or wrongly, on a standard opening on the web - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King's_Indian_Defense
Reading through the first few moves, I can see the logic to them upto black's move 8 on the classical continuation:-
The Main Line or Mar del Plata variation continues 7.0-0 Nc6 8.d5 Ne7
I might be missing something obvious but can anyone explain what advantage Ne7 gives to black ??
Ne7 is well worth its weight in gold. the e-pawn is now more solid thanks to d5, and now Black has more strength at f5. Maybe you ought to study a few games and see how the masters played with Ne7 to understand their thoughts...Sometimes its hard to see a checkmate from move eight.
