Main Variations

Dear all.

I am looking for a little pamphlet of the main variations in chess. It doesn't have to be more than ten pages. Does anybody know where, one can buy / see something like that?

Variations from normal  chess, as Fairy Chess or 960 ?    Or variations in Openings ?    Or slow or speed chess ?  Please explain and give examples !

Thanks for your question. I'm thinking about variations from openings. When reading openings-books, one can often see in the back of these books a short chapter, named "Index of variations". I just thought, that some of you might know of somewhere, where a universal "index of variations" was situated

Yes : in the good book "The Oxford Companion to Chess" is an appendix of openings with an index of 1327 named openings, variations, systems, gambits, attacks and defences.

It gives a very clear and extensive survey and summary of ( I should say all ) opening possibilities, most up to 5 to 10 moves long.

For each of them there is a short explanation in the book itself.

See www.schaakboek.nl, number 16819, this book by Hooper and Whyld, edition 1992, 483 pages.

I just ordered the book "The Oxford companion to Chess" through abebooks.com. Great!
