8... Nxg3 is a better choice than 8... Qf6.

Also, you definitely don't want to exchange queens, since the entire point is to keep up a strong attack!

The reason why at worst the Nxf7 line is usually a draw or better for black is because you should be able to pick up a perpetual check at some point.

Agreed. 8... Nxg3 is the main line in the Kg1 variation.
