I didn't know that. It's called Nimzo-Indian defense in the USA, but Nimzowitsch is a better name.
Especially for such an esteemed grandmaster, who would want their name on e4 Nc6, right?

Perhaps the poster in #76 forgot to interpolate Bxe7 before f4.
I don't really take that variation seriously, as I mentioned, since a3 just makes b5 look slightly ridiculous.
To any Caro-Kann player out there: What is a good backup opening?
I have my own ideas, but I'll post them only later.
I think NM Eric Schiller is a member of this site. I learned a lot from his book on the Caro-Kann "A complete defense to pk4". He might give you some insights too. How about 1...a6 (GM Miles surpise win against Karpov).Frankly speaking , i don't think i'm qualified to assist you on this but maybe the Masters from this site can help..We are brothers here anyway.
I received a lot of negative comments in response to the original question, but the question itself is still fair. I exclusively play the Caro-Kann against 1. e4, so I know it and play it better than other people with my exact rating, but when I play the Sicilian, French, or 1. ... e5, I have a performance rating well below.
What I considered to be the best suggestions are the Alekhine and the Scandinavian.

I hope you don't misinterpret me bro. But I suggest you stick to your guns . If you have a lot of time then study the Alekhine or the Scandanavian, but as you've said you play the Caro-Kann better so why not stick to it and improve more on it. When you say you play it better than any other in the same rating bracket, it means youre good at handling knights. I play it too, so as a brotherly suggestion to a brother, knight play is your arsenal. Yes you can play the Alekhines. Scandanavian ... i doubt it, its a open game. It just don't appeal to me that changing styles is worth it unless one really has an excellent feel for the board.
1.e4 Nc6 is the Nimzowitsch Defence.
In Russia we think The Main Line for Nimzowitsch Defence is
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e3 c5 5.Bd3 d5 6.Nf3 Nc6 7.0-0 0-0...
