Need More Openings Against 1.d4

Just wondering if you guys could help me with choosing a new opening against 1. d4. I'm tired of playing boring QGD, and I want to try to learn an unusual opening that still gives black good chances. Thanks!

1...Nf6 is so popular because it can transpose into a lot of variations for black. the nimzo indian, bogo indian, kings indian defense, queens indian defense, gruenfeld etc... if played 2.c4. id prefer instead of the QGD the slav. i suppose you know all of those right?

I recently started working a bit with the modern benoni defense, I'm still trying to get a feel for it but I find it interesting.

Unusual? 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 Nc6 springs to mind.

Play the Leningrad Dutch. Even the anti-Dutch lines that people may play that keep you from getting the Leningrad will lead to unusual games very different from the QGD.

I don't like 1...Nf6 unless it transposes into something else than any of the kings defences...I currently play 1...e6 followed by d5. JMB, that line looks pretty interesting. Ive tried QGA before but it really didnt end up good...

Thanks for all the responses. Anything else that doesnt involve Nf6 shortly followed by g6? Benko looks good for black, cause white cant move his e-pawn.

I just looked at the Leningrad, but it looks like white can break open black's kingside pretty easily.

Why didn't QGA end up well?
Usually pieces get very natural squares.

White can't move e pawn in benko?
But one of the mainlines is white playing e4 very quickly.
If you mean the fianchetto variation, white will move his e pawns after some short preparation aswell.

Benko is a pretty good choice though imo. It can be quite a pain OTB if you're under-prepared as white.

If you are looking for excitement certainly Nf6 is the choice.

Can you handle IQP and Queenside Pawn Majorities?  Tarrasch Defense (9...c4 against 9.Bg5, but you also have to deal with IQP positions if 9.dxc5)

Everything with the QGD is incredibly drawish.

you can play aggressive with any opening. Drawish is the players, not the openings.

speak for yourself, I play my Nimzo and I'm happy to have an interesting strategic game.

i think the best way to counter is by playing start from 1...d5, but who knows....,  chess also depends on middle game..
