Nimzowitsch Defense or Owen's Defense?

Hi!

In the Nimzowistch after 1 e4, Nc5, 2 Nf3, probably the more principled reply is 2...d6. And if now 3. d4, then 3...Bg4. Could go on for instance 4. Nc3, Nf6 5. Be2, e6 (with the idea of 6...d5, but White wouldn't allow it, he would play 6. d5 first)

Good luck!

2.d4 is how ya beat a nimzo

Against 2.nf3 a very sharp variation you can play is the double-edged F5?!

this way of playing the Nimzowitsch is unfortunately refuted.its a shame because otherwise, black gets very pleasant positions. Tony Miles used to play it like this all the time before the refutation became more well known.

not bxc6?! but ne5! followed by moves 0-0 qe2- re1 and possibly, nd2-nf3 and black is super miserable.

Bxc5? was just an exaple for if white ever takes, but yes, ne5 can be annoying idk if i played nf6 instead of e6 there is a way to get out of ne5. (I dont remember how tho I stopped playing the nimso)

the colorado is definitely a good weapon, but i wouldn't recommend it past intermediate level.

(ofc not at NM level)

Hi!

I wouldn't recommend 1...Nc6 as a main defense, just as a surprise one. After 1. e4 Nc6 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 Nf6 4. Nc3 Bg4 5. Be2 e6 6. d5 exd5 7.
exd5 Bxf3 8. Bxf3 Ne5 += or 6.h3, Bh5 7. Be3 d5 8. e5 Nd7 9. a3 Be7 10. Qd2 Nb6 += black position doesn't look so bad anyway.

Good luck!

5.be3 e6 6.h3 bh5 g4 bg6 d5 and black is busted
