Not an opening?

This is a forum for diagrams. What are some opening positions that aren't found in "Game Explorer"? Put in the moves and below it make a caption for what you would call the opening.

No it's Ruy Lopez, but if you move the A-Pawn 1 space up, it's not an opening.

There's an opening that hasn't been named or assigned a designation? This should be interesting. Even the Bongcloud and variations have been named. Fun.

Looks like the Ruy Lopez - Morphy Defense to me. As you know, there's a lot of Ruy Lopez variations, probably less than grains of sand though.

It is the Ruy Lopez, Morphy Defense but they just haven't put it onto the Game Explorer

Why move the king up one space? Is it already an opening, just not on game explorer?

Well it is not on the drop down list for choosing openings.

The King moves forward to prepare for the winning endgame.

Dued, it is all about getting the King the the other side man.

but castling your king protects you better so I say its not necessarily a good opening

The reason why the above isn't an opening is because it's a well known opening blunder by White in the Ruy Lopez Exchange Variation that lets Black have a good game without putting any of the typical spanish screws on. The better choice is the Fischer (though I initially learned it as the main line/Barendregt variation) variation with 5.0-0 instead of 5.Nxe5?!.

Ahhh... I see. It works on some people, but not on everyone. I have had a fair amount of wins and losses using this opening.
