Opening Recommendations?

Not Ruy Lopez at all. It is one of the most complex openings with so many possibilieties and different ideas that you shouldn't really try to learn it. I think there are a lot of great openings. So you want more strategic games then try out c4 the english opening. You can try to play the Italien or Queens Gambit. Or with black you can try the french or sicilian. From my side if you don't really like gambits, you should try the english opening (I play it myself not only in chess.com but also at irl tournaments). Also a lot of people don't really know what to play against it, because it isn't played that much, so you can get almost always in a great position with white as long as you don't blunder

well 1.d4 is going to be pretty much the opposite of a gambit, leaning towards positional play and closed positions... the opposite really. perhaps you're more interested in something in between the extremes... semi-open & strategic, or wait to counter punch hypermodern.

it'll give recommendations, but I have zero interest in french or english

Caro-Kann most solid and nice defense to play, i have i nice 56% with black whit it ( i played 660+ games, you just have to get used to it )

If you don’t really have time to learn all too much, then I’d recommend Giuoco Pianissimo, Advance French, Fantasy Caro-Kann, and Rossolimo against 2… Nc6 Sicilian and 3. c3 against 2… e6 and 2… d6 as White, Slav against d4, and either one of the 2… Qxd5 Scandinavian or 3… e5 Philidor lines against e4.
