It appears, by Game Explorer, that the Penguin system has never been played at master level!

 

 

 

For those of you wondering, the penguin is 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4 3.Rg1?!

Actually, i though about it again, and the opening is rather unorthodox anyway.

I can see why it's never been played at the master level. What exactly is the point of Rg1 on the third move? This looks pretty pointless. The only thing I can see white accomplishing with this opening is giving up his first move advantage.
