1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 f5...
And then defend against twenty moves of direct and well-coordinated attacking against your depleted kingside perfectly, and equality is yours! Oh, slip up once and you're as good as mated.
Bon chance!

PS: Tony Kosten is a GM with a current FIDE rating of 2479. His peak rating was 2551 - in 2002. BUT he is currently ranked 986 in the world among active players, which I guess is a good enuff endorsement of an opening relegated to the obscurity it so richly deserves - at least in everyone else's version of reality.
That said, Tony Kosten says it's playable, so you've got that going for you.
Philidor actually advocated it, so he has that going for him as well. Philidor was one of the best chess players of all time and a lot better than Tony Kosten, don't forget that.
Having said that houdini says white is just a clear pawn up and I would never play it lolz.
1- Houdini is clueless about openings. This being said, a full pawn is certainly quite a bit, and I believe he is not completely wrong on that one.
2- Philidor was the first decent chess player ever, but he was certainly not as good as today's GM. I doubt he would even be titled if he was to play today. (you can speculate that he would catch up very fast etc. but the fact is he was not a fantastic player).
If you are not convinced, take a look at this game. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1259662
He is Black. Would you advocate that opening, because Philidor plays it ? And he won, but after 15.Nxd4 I would score positively against Anand taking the white pieces.
Houdini thinks Black is very very slightly ahead ? We are talking about the position after the game's moves until 14, plus 15.Nxd4, right ?
Well, I think White is much better due to Black's pawn weaknesses everywhere and underdevelopment.
If your Houdini thinks Black is fine, could you post some lines ? There must be something incredible in the position.
EDIT : the position.
As for Philidor, again, I won't argue because it is useless. Let me just ask you : do you recommend, as Black, the first three moves of that game ?
Could someone good with the philidor counter gambit teach it to me.
