Pirc Defense - Dynamic variation vs Bd3-d5

I don't study a lot of openings but am pretty comfortable with what I play with the exception of this position as black. I get this position constantly and really struggle to find a good plan and dynamic play as black.
This is the position I like where I get good dynamic games with Nd7-Nc5-Nd3 style plans. The problem is my opponents often avoid this just playing d5-c4 and I get positions that are cramped with no play.
I am happy to sac material for dynamic play and this position is currently a real pain for me as black and occurs in a lot of my games.

do you want a solid game or an aggressive one?

if you are fine with solidity. play it like an old indian. be7 0-0 nbd7, a5 etc. bd3 is pretty harmless here.

if not , just play it like a king's indian, g6, bg7 0-0 prepare f5 etc.

I want aggressive. Should I include c6 or just begin with KID g6-Bg7-0-0 and preparing f5 omitting c6.

My whole opening rep is mostly catered to online blitz and I am very comfortable sacing material for activity.

Thanks for your advice. My usual plan when I play KID is c6-a6-b5 and this doesn't really make sense when they have already played d5 so I need to research more about how to play these KID positions with c4-d5-e4 closed structure.

in general, you should only play c6 IF white blocks his c pawn with the knight. the thing is, c6 early on doesnt really help black that much, and more importantly, if white plays this like a standard KID, he will seek queenside expansion and a breakthrough on that side. moving the c-pawn so early means you made Whites job of infiltration that much easier.

remember that the main point of the KID is to swamp White's kingside with a massive pawn storm. liquidating the center is a secondary goal. prepare f5 before c6 is usually the way to go (unless white neglects to play c4, then liquidation can be beneficial).

Thanks these strategic concepts are really helpful especially the general rule of thumb of only playing c6 if white locks his pawn on c2.
