Ponziani Opening

To each-his own.

I know this is hard to believe but there are Ponziani lines that even the super grandmasters are unaware of improvements. One such line recently played to a draw is 1. e4  e5  2. Nf3  Nc6  3. c3  d5  4. Qa4  Nf6.

I have published many such lines but there are still some I have not had the chance to publish--especially now that I am not part of Ponziani Power where much of the new analysis was published.

Super grandmasters will not use an opening as a surprise weapon unless they think it is sound.

There are some lines which have not been tested--quite a few lines--and I am in the process of testing some of these.  [ wish I had a better chess engine and enough time]

I will accept centaur CC challenges of one White, one Black Fraser Defense from Pfren, FirebrandX or Iloveyouso much. I don't know how many days per move but I will probably whip out the first 20 pretty fast.

LoveYouSoMuch

whoa, that's quite a lot of interest.

i don't know what to do anymore :P i think this tourney sounds like a good idea. 1 or 2 days/move imo.

BrianWall

how about 3 days, I will move instantly normally anyway

okay, okay.

i am just a bit afraid because i won't have that much time in a few weeks, but i can still make it to a reasonable level, i suppose. :P

BrianWall

I play in weekend tournaments all the time, that's why I asked for 3 days.

ponz111

lol highest USCF rating 2188 and same rating for 40 years.  They tell me I still have Correspondence rating.

My doctor tells me my real rating is rather low.Frown

However I can beat anyone at chess.com in money bridge!

GargleBlaster

I'd like to participate in this as well. :)

ponz111

Gargle. if you mean money chess--message me. If you mean Ponziani lines, hopefully you will get some action!

GargleBlaster

I did.  My curiousity about the opening has been piqued...

ponz111

You have to play it on a full stomach.

Ok, it is already friday now, but I have looked to the majority of the games of Brian Wall. Here is imho the best line for white. It is completely forced from move 13 of black. The king of white will still be in the centre, but because the queens are already from the board doesn't have that to be a big problem.

LoekBergman

This set of games have in common that white is not focusing on the centre. Black gets easier play.

LoekBergman

Well, I had a third file. In this file were the games that had in common that they did not have the 8th move Qd5 Nf2. Unfortunately crashed my computer and is it too late to do it again. I am surprised how much time it costs to organize those games in a decent manner. I have worked several hours on it. And oh yeah, in this lost file I had a nice variant starting with Bb5+ c4 Qh4. Looked good for black and white should avoid the situation at all. Oops, did not save my work. :-)

kantifields

Loek, I skimmed the 2nd game.  Why would white play 26. Rh5??

ponz111

I am totally confused. [nothing new]

after 7. Ke2  Bb6  8. Qd5  Nf2  9. Bg5  cannot Black just play  f6

10. Nxe5  Qe7

I appreciate the efforts to find the truth in these positions [what ever the truth may be]
