The probability is one chance in 32. It is like what is the probability of flipping a coin and getting heads five times in a row.
Probability of playing black five times in a row agains the same opponent
The probability of being black 5 times in row is indeed 1 in 32. However, more relevant is the probability of being the same colour 5 times in a row, which is of course 1 in 16.
But my guess is that the original poster was not asking the chance of 5 blacks in a a row, but the chance of being drawn against the same person 5 times in a row - which is harder to answer.
Hi there,
I'm playing an OTB tourney and next Friday i'll play for the 5th time with this guy - a very techcnical, passive but solid player, playing the english oppening - and every single time I'm playing with the black pieces! What is the probability of that to happen?
And also, my score with him is: 3 loses, 1 draw and 1 victory. What, in your opinion, is the best black response for 1.c4?
Sorry for my lousy english
thank in advance for the answers
cheers
