e.g 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3 Nf3 nf6 4 e3 b5, a move which often comes up. the b5 pawn can come under attack by the knight at c3 but in turn can be defended by ...h6. it is often quoted 'trying to save the pawn will make problems for black'. How?

Play a4 and b3, you will normally win the pawn back with the pressure along the white squares from the queen and bishop.
