Any opening in my book!

Trolling? White wins the c4 pawn easily and the Be6 is obstructing blacks development.

Actually, black can hold the pawn for several moves in that variation, but according to Stockfish, white still has the advantage.  I still don't like it though.  I want to get my pawn back right away and play a positional that I'm comfortable with.   That ain't one of them.

Fair enough. But you appear to be a strong enough player to recognise that this is absolutely fine/good for white and that your choice to avoid it is based on personal preference, not the actual strength of the black set-up.

This is how you keep the pawn.

Yes, I agree.  The bishop does block black's development and looks really awkward there.   It's just my own personal preference to avoid that line rather than have to memorize it 20 moves deep.

5.a4 is still good for white. If black tries to keep the extra pawn at all costs his position will quickly become bad.

A strong GM would shred that defense though, whether you can hold the pawn or not.

Nobody says you have to memorise it 20 moves deep- it isn't exactly theoretically critical. White can get a very comfortable position without much effort:

4.Qc2 seems a little weird. It's not like White immediately tries to recover the pawn in the QGA. It is a gambit for a reason- White gets other compensation.

Yeah, that's about how I would play it.  You'd win a pawn back with that.  Not necessarily the c pawn, but maybe the h pawn instead, after 7. h6.

Nice job leaving out White's 2 best moves, 3.Nf3 and 3.e3.

Only a stupid clown would utter the QG as bad, dubious, unsound, or any other negative adjective.

And, as per normal, you do not disappoint. It does make one wonder if buying any sort of membership gets you a pass on abusing people because you seem to do it an awful lot on multiple threads without any recriminations.

Now chess,

If the Queen's Gambit is horrible for White, stick to Fischer's maxum about e4 being best by test and if the Queen's Gambit is bad for black then do not play d5 and if you must there are better and sharper methods than accepting the pawn

Have a nice day!

That is because I do not abuse.  I speak the truth!  Sometimes the truth hurts!  If the truth hurts your snowflake feelings, too bad!

You don't get penalized for speaking the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me god!

Calling me a "stupid clown"? That is RUDE and also opinion. Don't deny it.

And white has a fantastic game. If black wastes their time with b5 then white plays a4 anyway and if c6 then white exchanges and plays Nc3. White gets free tempi on the pawn and black has to keep wasting time if they really want to defend it. Engines very much dislike black's position if they try to hold on to the pawn for dear life, and although I know we are humans playing it just goes to show that these lines must truly be bad for black if engines, usually known as crazy for material, dislike black's position in this line then it must truly not be worth it.

This is why bd3 is a bad move
