What do you mean by "solid"? You have many solid opening options (if we use the term in the sense pro players use) to play black or white. The solidity is the fruit of knowledge depth.

for white u have to play e4 otherwise ur a loser (kidding) so ruy lopez or Italian and for black against e4 u have to play the Sicilian because its just the best one and against d4 its up to u but I personally would pick the slav or KID
