hmm I don't play 1.e4 but I feel like this would be nice.
Refutation to the stafford gambit

My Stockfish 11+ gives the following best moves 5. Qe2, Nc3, d3, f3, Qf3 (+1.7/+1.4) and considers 5.e5?! (+0.9) as an inaccuracy.

The d3 line that stockfish 13 recommends I give in the variations, it does get up to +4 with ambitious play by black but in a blitz game it’s too hard to defend (we are humans not stockfish), the line that stockfish gives as +.9 (+1.2 on stockfish 13) is Nd5, which is not in the spirit of the Stafford gambit, and black is just a pawn down with no compensation! f3 however is definitely a good variation, while Qf3 I am not sure about (haven’t analyzed to satisfaction)
Recently, I have been seeing A LOT of the stafford gambit, thanks to Eric Rosen and his trappy youtube videos. I would like to share a line I have worked out, where black has no tricks, is generally down a pawn, has less space, and is often behind in development as well (AKA just has a bad position). Sorry my notes are not worked out, but I am sharing a good bit of work here so everyone can just learn the line and we can stop facing this stupid opening
