Ruy Lopez - Opening

Hi, what do you think is the best response to the Ruy Lopez? Have you found any particularly counter-offensive variations to be effective?

You shouldn’t worry about it, but I will give you an answer. It is not so common at your level. I have studied the Ruy Lopez/Spanish and variations and I think the simplest one is the Stinitz variation. 1. E4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 d6. My friend made a blog about it. It is in general chess discussion. The name of the forum(atleast by how I remember it) is called “Read my blog about the Ruy Lopez”. And pls answer they’re question in I think #2.

Stinitz variation guys. It’s when you do 3. d6. It’s the simplest, most solid, and perfect line you could ever ask for. Once again pls refer to my friend’s blog called The Ruy Lopez Opening and you will see the moves of white and black and you will see how simple the Ruy Lopez actually is. A video by jacksark shows how to study openings and pls click on the video that says something like “how I learned this opening in 24 hours using this technique” and it will show how to do it.

Here is a blitz game I played recently in the classical defence, I play with 1.Nc6 but we transpose to e4 e5:

Try 3...f5. I'm not saying it's the best, but it definitely fits the bill for a sharp counter-offensive. It's the Schliemann Defence / Jaenisch Gambit.

The Birds is a really bad opening for black. I’d play the Marshall Attack, it’s the most annoying to have to deal with as white (Ruy player here)

#11. Oh wait I studied that, how did I forgettttt? The classical is a mistake because it allows white to get a tempo after preparing and doing d4. #13, it’s like super easy to defend against the marshal. I’ll show you. 1. E4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Be7 6. Re1 O-O 7. c3 d5(start of the marshal) 8. exd5 Nxd5 9. Nxe5 Nxe5 10. Rxe5 c6(modern variation of the marshal) 11. d4 Bd6 12. Re1 Qh4 13. g3 Qh3 14. Bxd6 cxd6 15. Qf3 and white plans to trade queens and just be up a pawn. Here it’s mostly drawish. #12 that is refuted by just d3. That’s it and they have nothing.

Well it might not be easy because I think barely anyone knows this, but I just showed the lines.

The problem with the Marshall is that it doesn’t change anything it’s still a normal Ruy Lopez with the same moves

The classical and marshal are very different.

C3 is one of the two main moves against the classical, but probably inferior to 4.O-O because white needs to be prepared for both Nf6 and f5 after c3.

Yea. They are. Just responding to both. Whose move is it for 4. O-O

Jeez. You did not forgettttt anything, because you did not know anything.

Generally, you talk a lot in these forums without having anything to say.

If you want to attract attention, just educate yourself first. It is that simple.
