I don't know about the semi-slav but in the sicilian it would be the semi-open c-line with the white pawn back on c2. That is a good enough reason to attack on that wing.

What is the strategic justification for black to play on the queenside in the semi-slav and in the sicilian? Since you are only supposed to attack on the wings when the center is locked, could you consider the center to be "on hold" as it were in these openings?
