That line that orangehonda gave for the Caro-Kann is the Bronstein-Larsen Attack, something that I've played extremely, extremely rarely, and only in offhand games. The reply 6.g3 put me almost entirely off of it.

Well, it shouldn't, given that you just... don't play that line. 4...Nf6 can easily be replaced by 4...Bf5 (Main Line/Capablanca Variation) or 4...Nd7 (the Karpov/Modern/Smyslov Variation?). If you insist on playing 4...Nf6, after 5.Nxf6+, exf6 is the Korchnoi Variation, where Black has extra defense on the Kingside with the pawn on f6.
Personally, I prefer to play the main line with 4...Bf5, where Black has a rock-solid position and can go to the endgame with careful play, my favorite part of chess.
caro-kann isn't bad but you would want to use the najdorf

I myself started off playing the Sicilian, became a fan of the Caro-Kann, and now reverted back to the Sicilian. Like they say,' Once you go Sicilian, you'll never go back!"

The modern caro-kann with kingside black castling is a very sharp variation itself. Often white sacrifices the g pawn for an attack and black counterattacks on the queenside. It's not a drawish opening any more, the "drawish" openings against 1.e4 now are petroff and berlin defense.

This ^. 4...Bf5 is almost always my continuation in that line of the Caro-Kan.
I used to play the classical caro kann, but honestly, the games werent that fun. This turned me off. Now, I play a french, which I find much more enjoyable. Sicillians are fun to play, so I say go for it. Some people may enjoy he positional nature of the caro kann, but you will undoubtly enjoy the sicillian. :)

Well, if your gonna play the Caro-Kann, I'm gonna recommend you be careful. Also I recommend if you're rating is 1500+ (which probably is) to play the Sicilian. If you're rating is below 1500, then e5, French, or the Caro-Kann would be fine. So it kind of depends on you're rating.

After all this soul-searching you have almost guaranteed that your opponent will play 1. d4 :-)
LOL that's exactly what happened in a OTB tournament I was in years ago. When I played 1.d4, my opponent sighed and muttered "All my 1.e4 prep is down the drain!" I also play the caro-kahn.
That happened to me too. I spent a couple months working on a whole opening repertoire for the World Open (Evans Gambit/Morphy Attack as white against e5, French as black) and the whole tournament I only got 1 d4 or 1 f4 from my white opponents, and only Sicilian and French from my black opponents. At least the study of Evans Gambit and Morphy attack lines was good tactics training.
