Not sure of the African Defense, it kind of blocks Black's development IMHO. If I were White I would try to deflect Black's d-pawn, earn some edge in development, and control the center with my d and e-pawns. If I were Black, I would try to gain control on the dark squares with Bg7 and c5.

As for Indian Defense Lenears Line, if I were White maybe I'll prepare for e4 push with Nc3 and Bg2, and aiming to have a big center. If I were Black, maybe I'll eventually transpose the position to QG.

Not sure if my ideas are sound though.

they sound good but for the African defense can act similar to the semi-slav and lion system and your suggestion of Bg7 which make's it flexable. the Semi-Slav and French hinder's black's development a bit but the have the element of counter attack to them.

I was thinking of QGD lines for African Defense. In fact I thought it kind of look like reverse French Tarrasch to me (or maybe I got it mixed up with something else).

I'm not really into French, QGD, or Slav though, so I can't comment much. I usually play Dutch Leningrad, Benoni, or KID against 1. d4

sorry for getting off my own topic a bit  but how do you like the benoni is it decent.

I am just starting to try out Modern Benoni. FYI my favorite player is Tal and as far as I know Tal used to play it often in his early days.

I like to push either my c or f-pawn forward to deflect opponent's center pawn and fianchetto, which I can find in Benoni. I'm still not very sure of its strengths and weaknesses though, but seeing it's rarely played nowadayas, I think it is a more of a system with element of surprise. I feel with Benoni I have less Kingside space though, which often scares me as I usually castled Kingside (though I feel castling Queenside is cooler :p) but generally Benoni players aim to counterplay on Queenside. It's kind of a sharp system and so far I'm liking it, but I plan to try Gruenfeld soon to expand my reply to d4.
