Switching to Sicilian, but which Sicilian?

@mropenruy that’s not the accelerated dragon. It’s e4, c5, nf3, nc6, d4, cd, nxd4, and g6!

The Maroczy bond can be annoying but I think there are Qb6 lines that give black adequate play.

idk man Qb6 is a waste of time as you block your b pawn and fall behind in development

C4, Bg7, Be3 and 6..Qb6 was recommended by Kamil Plichta in his Chessable course! I don’t have the course and I don’t play accelerated dragon so I don’t have prior experience as to how effective it is, but it certainly isn’t bad!

I’m not sure black would play 6..e6,

To be fair, both frog 🐸 and open Ruy lover don’t play accelerated dragon as black. This makes showing lines much harder!

I am not a fan of the sicillian, neither am i good at chess but I will give you these 2 lines

mrOpenRuy

Main line is 6. ...Nf6, not e6. I was just confused about f4 in the setup you showed as I haven't seen this so much in the Accelerated Dragon, at least not to give an instant win for white.

I checked in the main line and 10. f4 is playable. 10. Qd2 is main line. The engine likes h3 and Nc2.

Either way, white does very well in Maroczy Bind setups.

Yes

@NEETHUDAS123

Your line makes no sense. On move 6, white has 6. Nxc6 bxc6 7. e5 but instead plays 6. Bd3 hanging Nxd4. What on earth is going on on this game?

mrOpenRuy

f4 goes for the win, and literally nobody plays the accelorated dragon because they get like 0 space and their counterplay dies with c4 and h3

pleewo

I dunno about that, I don’t particularly like it but it’s valid!

Chuck639

Which Sicilian set-up won the vote?

pleewo

Dunno, I’m guessing Najdorf

I vote for the Kan!

This person wants something dynamic and aggressive, so Najdorf prolly better fit! 🐸

mrOpenRuy

yeah the accelorated dragon is just trash if white knows what hes doing,

white gets play on the kingside, he can easily remove blacks play,

all black gets is tricks on the dark squares, a bishop on e6 or d7, a5 to try to gain space, and to fight for b5

white white can quickly attack the kingside and win

pleewo

But if black knows what he’s doing, it’s not that bad!

Chuck639

I’m not a fan of the dragon either but it has it place against certain set-up.

I’ll transpose to the dragon against the Alapin via d5 or the Katalimov which gives me the imbalance and counter play to make progress in the game; or avoid a dry or drawish position.
