The Colle is simple enough (in its basic form) for novices to play and survive the opening. The queen's bishop, however, is a problem. Therefore, the Colle is not White's best weapon. The KID and Sneaky Gruenfeld also present problems. Serious players seem to use the Colle-Zukertort (fiachettoing the queen's bishop) as a better try. Still, I have played a number of nice games with Colle. I still play it occasionally. Good luck with it.

The Colle opening is my second favorite opening. Though I'm not very good at it, I love the interesting positions and simple development. This opening has a lot to it, but I'll show you my style of it.1.d4 d5 My favorite staring moves. 2.Nf3 Nf6 In this position, it's a reverse Russian Game(Also known as the Petroff Defence).3.e3 e6 4.Bd3 c6 5.c3 Nc6 6.Nbd3 Be7 Now the board is very closed and cramped. After this position, you can play the moves you want but my style is 7.O-O O-O 8.Qe2 9.dxc5 Bxc5. I personaly like this opening better than the Russian Game.
