Counter-attack, e.g. with Steinitz Countergambit :
The only line that makes the London System dubious is the Modern Defense.
1.d4 g6 2.Bf4?! Bg7 3.e3 d6 4.Nf3 Nc6 5.h3 e5! 6.dxe5?! (6.Bg3 is equal at best for White) dxe5 7.Qxd8 Kxd8 8.Bg5+?! f6 9.Bh4 with h5 soon to come. White's bishop is garbage and black is slightly better.
Think PSV-1988's way is more universal if black plays 1...d5 like I do. Personally, I find that I have to be more precise against Stonewall attack more than the London system.
Ok so the london system is a chess opening, which I absolutely cannot stand to come up against as black, since of course it's a system, people can just throw moves out without even thinking about it, and always end up with at least a solid, yet incredibly boring position. I have absolutely no idea what to do against it as a beginner and the opening in itself is played so often, it makes me hate chess
Any advice on how to go about playing against the opening? I know I should probably suck it up and quit moaning but by christ does it really get in my hair. You have to go up against the opening every other game.
Both the King's Indian Defense and the Dutch Defenses are pretty decent against the London.
