Well, it seems to be very popular as a discussion subject. A clubmate of mine has played it, but I have not played it or against it in 35 years - so I certainly wouldn't put it close to the top of my shopping list...
The Ponziani
Well I train 14 hours a day and the Ponziani is my bread-and-butter line. I believe 3. c3 is logical and White's best move. Hopefully within the next century or so I'll be proven right.
I have an entire chapter of my book devoted to it. Most lines leave the book around move ten at the latest, which I love. It's a great opening for people who like to reach an early middlegame, out of book, with a silght edge, and many winning traps along the way if Black messes up.
hi thanks for the post. yea i hate when openings feel sorta ....planned if you know what i mena,. i like to constantly have to think adn not predict everything.

I play it in OTB blitz for traps, though most of my opponents now play Sicilian or caro kan or French but I defeated a guy who played 1.. e5 in a tie breaker.

I kind of compare the ponziani with the 4 knights or the Vienna game. It is not wrong or bad it just does not put as much pressure on black as the Ruy Lopez of even the Italian/Scottish does. If black knows you play it he can equalize or even perhaps ask white some questions with the Fraser defence (though if white plays well it should be equal too)
I recently learned about a new opening called the Ponziani and was wondering if you guys thought it would be worth learning or not.
